UST-FMS Class ’79 Gives Back to their Alma Mater

September 14, 2022 — The UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (UST-FMS), led by Dean Ma. Lourdes D. Maglinao, MD and Regent Father Angel A. Aparicio, O.P., and Anargyroi: FMS Foundation, Inc. led by Executive Director Ms. Annette S. Ward, formally received a donation from UST-FMS Class of 1979 for the Sts. Cosmas and Damian Simulation and Research Center in a hybrid meeting held on August 5, 2022 at the UST-FMS Dean’s Conference Room. The Class was represented by USTFMS alumni Dr. and Former Dean Rolando Lopez and Dr. Ricardo Agbayani, joined virtually by Drs. Jesus Chua, Mary Jocelyn Laygo, and Gerard Flores and his wife who were all based in the United States. Their batch generously donated 500 Thousand Pesos for the highly anticipated Center which will rise beside the UST Tan Yan Kee Student Center along Dapitan Street. The donation shall be used exclusively for the purchase and maintenance of equipment of the said facility. The event was also an opportunity for Class ‘79  to come together and exchange stories and well-wishes. With a renewed sense of optimism, the Class expressed their desire to continue reaching out to their batchmates to support their Alma Mater.

To encourage more UST-FMS alumni to give back to their alma mater by paying forward to the future Thomasian doctors, alumni Drs. Peter and Linda Fang will donate 250 US dollars in honor of each of the first 400 US-based donors who will make a donation through a donor-advised fund towards the St. Cosmas and St. Damian Simulation and Research Lab campaign.

This inspired the new fundraising endeavor of AFI: the Seeds of Generosity Campaign.

This campaign is open to all US-based Thomasian alumni who wish to share their gift of resources to the current students of UST-FMS. For those who are interested in partaking of this mission, they may know more about the process through this link.
